This article starts out talking about a forum that took place in 2009 held by the white house, in which President Obama would answer questions that were asked by massive crowd of 92,000. The most popular question of the forum was about marijuana and the legalization of marijuana. The article states that President Obama was dismissive of these questions and would usually answer with a simple "No". It goes on the talk about how anyone who called for the legalization of marijuana would usually be marginalized and not taking serious. The author then goes on to discuss how much revenue marijuana could generate and how much money we could save if it were legalized.
The argument being made in this article is why we should legalize marijuana. The author states how much money could be saved, and how much revenue we could bring in by legalizing it. I think the arguement was effective. The author gave specific information on how much money we could make by legalizing and taxing marijuana. He also gives specifc information how much we spend on policing and court cost stating how much we could save by legalizing marijuana. The author gives detailed reasons for legalizing and doesn't use meaningless rhetoric in his argument.
